The well-being of a nation is not measured by income but with happiness, then you must establish the primacy of the Gross National Happiness over Gross Domestic Product. For this reason, the UN established the World Day of Happiness which is celebrated on March 20th. The celebration was convened by the General Assembly of the UN on 28 June 2012. The UN recognizes and certifies the importance of happiness and well-being as universal goals and aspirations in life of all human beings.
“I wish all the people around the world a happy International Day of Happiness! The pursuit of happiness is a serious matter. To ensure that all people reach happiness is one of the main objectives of the United Nations, “said UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon. The pioneer in the pursuit of happiness is Bhutan, a small mountainous country of Asia. Bhutan has recognized the supremacy of happiness on income since the early 1970s and has adopted the goal of gross national happiness as the reference standard, anteponendolo to GDP and triggering a debate on alternative GDP still ongoing. According to the latest World Happiness Report the happiest countries in the world are the Scandinavian countries, on the podium are Denmark, Finland and Norway. Followed by the Netherlands, Canada, Switzerland, New Zealand and Australia. Italy occupies the twenty-eighth place. The United Nations calls upon member states, the international and regional organizations, non-governmental organizations and individuals to celebrate the World Day of happiness in an appropriate manner, including through education and public awareness. In many Italian cities will join and organize events for the day full of good humor, in Milan such as the Academy of Happiness is planning a dance show in Piazzetta San Carlo, followed by a snack at the headquarters of the Academy in Corso di Porta Roman, from reading and from the encounter with the singer Nicholas Agliardi.
